JOURNALISM & SCREENWRITING

Journalism

Back in Chile I worked as a journalist for almost ten years. I was part of Paniko.cl and Indie.cl, both early pioneering journalism websites; I worked at El Mercurio, the oldest continuously published Spanish-language newspaper in the world; I was staff writer at Qué Pasa magazine for almost 3 years.

Since then I have freelanced for Capital (Chile), El Malpensate (Colombia), Mundo Diners (Ecuador), Letras Libres (Mexico y España), El Telégrafo (Ecuador), Gatopardo (Mexico), Rolling Stone (Mexico y Chile), La Nación (Argentina), Zona de obras (España), Asymptote (USA), Southwest Review (USA), The Southern Review (USA), The White Review (UK) in Spanish and English, among other outlets (one time I wrote for a now-defunct Brazilian independent website… was it Portuguese or Portuñol?).

Screenwriting

I did several narrative projects for Adonde Media, including researching and writing more than ten episodes of the Duolingo podcast. My favorite (now that I work at a museum) is “The Rodin Thief,” in which a famous sculpture by Auguste Rodin goes missing from Chile’s first-ever exhibition of his work (and then dramatically reappears!)

Besides that, I have been hired to do different screenwriting projects (TV, movie, music), a lot of them were book adaptations treatments. The last project I did was the screenplay for the music video “Try” by the Chicago-based, Mexican-American pop artist Gabacho.
